Event Highlights

Here our some of the event highlights for planned and happened this year. Be sure to check our calendar for a more complete list of upcoming events!

January:

2017 Farm and Home Show:
Friday, Jan. 13th & Saturday, Jan 14h, 2017.  Friday, 10am-7pm. Saturday, 9am-2pm
Located in the National Guard Armory (High School Gym). Visit over 80 local vendors and experience wonderful educational speakers on various subjects. Visit with friends and neighbors as the kids keep busy on free inflatables. Food booths will also be available. Check out our list of vendors.

Masquerade Ball:

Saturday, March 25th from 8pm – 11pm

Join us for a night of mystery and intrigue as you dance the night away. Come dressed in a formal dress for women and a suit or tux for men. Don’t forget to wear your most important accessory: Your Mask!

Ages 21 and older. Light hors d’oeuvres will be served.

Tickets can be purchased at the Chamber of Commerce, located inside the Visitor Center.
$15 per person if you (or your date) works at a Chamber business.
$20 per person if you do not.

A small amount of masks will be available for purchase at the door if you do not have one. First come, first served.

April:

Administrative Professionals Day:

Wednesday, April 26th
A great way to show those who make our lives easier that we appreciate them. Lunch, massage and flowers brought into the office as a way to say Thanks!!

Shape Up Milbank: 

City Wide Rummage Sales – April 28 & 28  
Get started with your spring cleaning! This is a great event to make our town sparkle. City wide rummage sales are on a Friday and Saturday. The National Guard will come and pick up your land fill items and haul them away for those who are unable to do it themselves. The land fill fees are waived during this event.

June:

It Only Takes a Spark Cancer Walk:
Friday, June 9th, 2017
Milbank’s own Cancer Fundraiser! This amazing event is held the second weekend in June at Lake Farley Park. Come out and help support the battle against cancer, this is a wonderful event. See www.takesaspark.org for more details.

Downtown Tuesdays begins: Community gathering every Tuesday night from 4-7 pm on Main Street in Milbank! Farmers Market, vendors, live music, food, cornhole and lots of fun!

Q-Fest

Saturday, June 24th, 2017

A day filled with activities! We start the day with a parade at 10:30am on Main Street – starting at the Courthouse and going north. The parade ends at Lake Farley Park where the Car Show Registration starts at 11:00am and the Car Show begins at 12:00am. Get a chance to check out everything from the classic cars up through today. Next up is South Dakota’s Largest Cornhole Tournament beginning at 12:30pm. Compete for Ol’ Mill Bucks and a trophy! Then we lead into our Ski Show at 3:00pm on Lake Farley to be performed by the Aberdeen Aqua Addicts! You won’t want to miss this spectacular show! Last but not least is Milbank’s famous Q-Fest BBQ Competition! The food is served at 4:30 along with sides to complete your meal. We will have the Beer Garden and Food Vendors available for your food and beverage needs all day, starting at 11:00am and going until 7:00pm or until the food runs out.

July:

4th of July Celebration:

At 7:00pm come and enjoy a fun family filled evening at Lake Farley Park! Lots of food, fun and activities for the whole family including the always popular inflatables for the kids! We will end the night with a spectacular fireworks show at 9:45pm!

Lake Farley Country Concert 

July 22nd, 2017

Come out to Lake Farley Park for an awesome night of country music! Our featured entertainer is non other than CRAIG MORGAN! Gates open at 5:30pm for VIP ticket holders and  6:30pm for all other seating. The concert begins at 7:30 with special guest, Dirt Road Dixie!

National Night Out:

Twin Brooks Threshing Show:

August 13th & 14th, 2017

September:

Rock Concert & Burnout Competition 

Burnout registration begins at 5:30pm and the competition starts promptly at 6:00pm. You can compete in either the One-Wheel or Posse categories.

The gates open at 7:30pm for the Rock Concert featuring our opener, the FM All-Stars and our Feature Band, The Badlands House Band (now known as the Ron Keel Band). FM All-Stars take the stage at 8:00pm and the Badlands House Band goes on at 9:00pm.

City Goes Country – Movie in the Park

KMSD radio hosts “City Goes Country” at Lake Farley Park. The Chamber will then host a Movie in the Park at dusk. Bring your own chair or blanket.

Bring your little ghosts and goblins to Milbank’s Main Street for some good, safe fun. Our local businesses set up camp in front of their stores and hand out Halloween treats. Don’t miss it!

This kicks off our Holiday Season of shopping in Milbank. There are lots of fun things going on around including open houses at some of our local businesses and our popular weekly drawings for Holiday Ol’ Mill Bucks. When you shop locally, you get to enter to win Ol’ Mill Bucks at one of our 4 Saturday drawings.
